Overview of Manufacturing Tungsten Alloy Counterweight Blocks for Golf Head Rods

Date:[2023/12/18]

In recent years, the trend of golf has gradually become popular, which has increased the demand for golf clubs and related products among sports enthusiasts. The improvement of the manufacturing process of tungsten alloy counterweights for golf clubs plays an indispensable role in improving the overall performance of golf clubs.
In order to improve the performance of golf clubs, people often add weight to the golf head. Compared with traditional counterweights such as iron, lead, steel, zinc, etc., tungsten alloy is more suitable as a counterweight for golf ball heads. This is mainly because tungsten alloys have characteristics such as high density, strong corrosion resistance, and good impact resistance, which can effectively enhance the durability of end products.
Generally speaking, a set of golf equipment includes several different types of golf clubs, each with a club head made of various alloy materials. The golf clubs can usually be divided into the following types: 3 to 5 wooden clubs, 7 to 8 iron clubs, 1 split club, 1 sandpit club, and 1 push club.
The golf head is a part of the golf club. It has a hitting sphere, a top, and a bottom, which are connected to a neck tube at its root end. The bottom of the ball head is provided with a holding groove, which is provided with a groove at the bottom, and a first solder is inside the groove; A counterweight is installed in the holding tank, and the specific gravity of the counterweight is greater than the specific gravity of the material at the bottom of the ball head.
The counterweight of the ball head is generally made of tungsten alloy. For the convenience of disassembly and replacement, tungsten alloy counterweights are often made into screw shapes. For beginners, not only do they have unique requirements for the length of the club, but their choices for the weight of the ball head are also different, mainly based on their own strength. In other words, the length of the club and the weight of the ball head directly affect the direction and force of the player's hitting.
Tungsten alloy counterweight is a high-density alloy that has significant advantages in weight and volume compared to other metals. It can effectively reduce the center of gravity of the club and improve its balance. The density of tungsten alloy is twice that of steel, and it is also higher than lead, aluminum, and iron, making it an excellent material for counterweights. In addition, tungsten alloy is also an environmentally friendly material that does not cause significant pollution to the ecological environment like lead, so it is more in line with the development requirements of seed fittings.
At present, the manufacturing process of tungsten alloy counterweight blocks for golf ball heads mainly includes precision dewaxing casting process, forging process, and powder metallurgy process. Overall, the cost of precision dislocation casting technology is relatively low, but its rod head components still require more functional and appearance modification processing after casting. The forging process has many advantages, such as good ball control, large sweet zone, long hitting distance, large center of gravity adjustability, increased torsional inertia, and high accuracy and stability.
Powder metallurgy technology is often used to manufacture tungsten alloy counterweight blocks for golf ball heads, but due to the large size of powder particles (particle size about 50-100) μ  m) As a result, it is often difficult to obtain standardized dimensional tolerances (± 0.7%) and densities (<92%) for the sintered finished products. For example, although stainless steel alloy materials currently used in industry have appropriate strength and high ductility characteristics, they cannot fully meet all performance requirements of various components of the iron rod head, especially for the two-piece iron rod head structure composed of the rod head body and counterweight blocks, the counterweight blocks must be made of tungsten containing high density alloys separately.
Shenzhen Yujiaxin Tech Co., Ltd. undertakes the processing of various golf head and rod counterweight blocks, which can be customized according to customer drawings and different densities to meet different needs.
